ALC Setting
Greetings! I just posted this to the FB page but also thought I'd post it here. Just a quick question regarding setting ALC. The recommendation in the software is to set the ALC at 1/3 of the bar. It was my understanding that ANY ALC was bad - since that triggered the transmitter to begin throttling back power to prevent overdriving and distortion of signal? I believe no ALC (or just a hint of it kicking in) is what is recommended for FT8. What am I missing here? I'm sure someone in the group can enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

Can move slider all the way left on both VarAC and VARHF [Sound Card] in TUNE mode with NO affect. 'Pwr' slider in WSJT-X works fine.
BTW: Is there really NO activity on VarAC. VARHF shows plenty of noise but no dots that I can see on 14.105 frequency [V5.0.2]
