Having trouble getting QSL confirmations

I've been using VARAC on an off for a few years. I have logged and uploaded all of my VARAC contacts with mode=DYNAMIC as per ADIF standard. However, out of about 50 contacts, I have yet to receive one confirmed contact in any of the logging systems that I participate in: LOTW, QRZ, eqsl.cc . I am thinking that it must be some error with how I am logging. Can anyone provide info about how they log QSOs on VARAC in their logging software, especially if they are getting confirmations. I am using Ham Radio Deluxe & have followed the instructions provided by that maker within their online manual. Thanks in advance for any replies. 73 de kg9ni

Ernie, you are correct on QSOs being confirmed as DATA QSOs and I meant to mention that in my original response. I also meant to mention that with QRZ, this is no problem at all as they do accept Vara HF for a mode. Everyone should keep in mind their personal objectives and goals for QSO confirmations (QSLs). If you are looking for ARRL awards, it's one thing. If you just like to have confirmations that won't count for any ARRL awards, that is another. QRZ has tons of great awards. They just don't have anything to do with the "official" ARRL awards program. Same thing goes for the neat email QSLs that everyone is sending now. They are nice but they do not count for anything in the ARRL awards system. Jason made a good comment also, having Vara HF map to DATA in the LOTW system. I also use N3FJP ACL and it is fantastic, by the way.

Icom IC7300 radio initialization question

My question is specific to 7300 initialization behavior.

When you load VarAC does your rig, automatically switch to USB or do you have to select USB manually? E.G., if you last operated SSB, CW, RTTY, or AM, does it switch to USB and USB-D?

Update: Happy to report adding command strings to the VarACStartCmd= and VarACExitCmd= commands works as Irad advertized in his guide. Many thanks to Henrik OZ9EEE for the link to the guide.

There is a command that you can add to your CAT configuration file that will automatically fire your auto tuner when you change frequencies. I have it in my 7300 setup and it works just fine. No need for flrig. Sorry, I just don't have time now to go fish it out as I am leaving for work. Perhaps Irad or Gary can respond with the correct info. 73 de K9JAJ

Well honestly 12M VarAC is very slim, 10M is a lot more active when conditions are good. 15M is decent and certainly 20M is the most active. You may want to try 20M first.
