Use with Ham Radio Deluxe

I inquired of HRD whether their Rig Control and Logging systems worked with VarAC. The reply was to inquire at VarAC with the implication that VarAC software was the culprit and needed some sort of fix.


So, I take it VarAC does not work with HRD. Without finger pointing as HRD has done, can anyone confirm if this is the case and what the nature of the incompatibility is.

I have been using HRD for years, so I tried to link it to VarAC, and to some extent I succeeded. My success is that I can have the VarAC QSOs automagically logged into the HRD log. The methodology working for me:

  1. I start HRD (Rig Control) in the DemoMatic configuration;

  2. I start HRD Log from RigControl;

  3. I minimise (NOT CLOSE) Rig Control, and make the log window of suitable size,

  4. I start VarAC, and then everything works. In VarAC setup I needed to tell it the port number used by HRD to communicate with external applications to accept their log entries.
