Using VarAC without CAT control
Is anyone using VarAC without Cat control?? I have it connected with SignaLink USB cable only...
I can send a Beacon, and I can send a CQ, but I cannot get it to send my typed message text. When I hit send, my typed message just moves into the 'in queue' box and stays there. No transmission of it at all even if I hit 'send' again.

I thought I'd add onto this somewhat older post. As an ALE user, there are many applications that must be "dumbd down" to function well. Fortunately, VarAC is happy being left "out of the loop" when it comes to something else controlling the transceiver. There are functions though, such as pskreporter, that base reporting on what VarAC thinks, not what is reality. Thus if you leave reporting enabled, pskreporter will receive the wrong information.
