Setup help required

I am 75 years old, not a pc wizard but would like some help please.
I am keen to use digital.
I use an FT897 along with SCU17 interface.
I cannot use the CAT facility that the programme offers and can’t configure the software rig and modem set up procedure.
The SCU uses a standard and enhanced port drivers on ports 3 and 4 ?
Can I use OMNIRIG or FLRIG if so could someone advise me as to the settings I need to apply.

Will attempt to help but I have a big concern with the statement you made saying "I cannot use the CAT facility". You can still use VarAC without CAT but it will have to all be manual.
Yes VarAC does support OmniRig and FLRig very well.
But can you explain more what you need help with?
