Alert tags - incoming possible?

In Settings-Alert Tags, is it possible to set/allow "incoming" (or "connected") as tag text? That would provide an "early warning" email of a possible connection. I have tried these but in vain. Also maybe any other text in the datastream to create an alarm email?

Hi Yka. You can use the Telegram Bot if you want real time alerts. there is a project on the VarAC extensions page: https://www.varac-hamradio.com/extensions

In general - your idea sounds interesting. I will add it to the roadmap.

Editing Welcome Prompts

Couple questions! First, will there be a time when the canned Welcome Message will allow other tags besides <LOC>, such as <MYDT>? I'm in the middle of the ocean and a lot of mainland operators forget about the time difference where I am when looking for me :)

Also, is it possible to alter connect texts that prompt about EMAIL and AI use? Specifically, I'd like to make it more obvious that the AI command is "AI:" and not just "AI". I've had soooo many ops try to use my AI without the colon, get frustrated when there's no response and disconnect!

Thanks and Aloha! KH7JF

To your first question - we will consider adding it.

to your seconds quesiton - When someone connect you, your station report them the available services with the "<S:EAB>" tag. each letter represent a serive you provide.

When it is received - it shows on the other side as :

This shows them how to use it already.

Beacon after auto band change & tune-tone

Irad:

Some of us are adapting the automatic frequency schedule and coordinating the schedule in our region between operators. To this point, we see benefits if VarAC would automatically beacon after the band change is done. The reason for this is so that the antenna tuner will be tuned for optimum performance on the frequency.

Also - as Don KM4UDX points out, his tuner needs a Tune/Tone for his tuner to automatically tune. So an option would be to also transmit a Tune/Tone after the frequency change to allow those tuners that need a tone to automatically tune.

Some of us are experimenting with a coordinated frequency schedule. We feel that a window of time on 30 meters may help transfer Vmails when QRM makes 40 & 20 meters difficult.

Thank you for the work and energy you and your team puts into making VarAC the most powerful digital networkโ€ฆ

+1 to what Lutz already replied.

Beacons timer is reset on every band change and will fire right away (plus some grace time)

If you also enable Antenna tuner, it will automatically tune upon band change so the first beacon will be fired fully .

Using your own digipeater

Hi, newbie here. I have a (licensed) station, W3DK-2 and a (similarly licensed) digipeater, W3DK-10. VarAC won't let me use my W3DK-10 digipeater in a call to another station - e.g., K2BBL via W3DK-10, it says I can't use my own station to digipeat. W3DK-2 and W3DK-10 are different stations - W3DK-2 is an IC-705 and W3DK-10 is a TM-D710GA. Why is this disallowed? Thanks, Bob - W3DK

it doesnt even make sense to work through your own digipeater. as it adds no value to the process.

Digipeater is a nother VaraFM that you go through on your way to your detination that echos your packets. no logic in echoing your packets from the same modem.
