i have wsjtx running well on my dx10 using virtual comm port 5. i am trying to setup varac. i have it all properly configured i believe, with comm port 5, but when i go to test the sound card, or test PTT, using CAT, it fails with an error "the comm port can't be accessed" and the help popup suggests something else has control of the comm port. wsjtx is closed. i look for processes that might be using comm5; no luck. so i don't know how to release this port. another confusing thing is, i also have omni-rig available and it too does nothing.
i'm stuck. i'm so close but so far. can anyone help guide me on this? thanks in advance, 73, tom wa2uvc
irad d,
this occurred before omni-rig was installed. but no, it's not running. ps omnirig has the same issue with comm port 5
Look in your task manager. make sure omnirig is not running the background taking the port.
further to this, the vara log file says 'soundcard missing in action' which tells me that it is not communicating with the rig over comm5, the conflicted port. online, it appears that noone has solved the inaccessible problem with wsjtx not releasing the port
i just found this from the wsjtx forum, for those with a similar problem: " Quiting WSJTX 2.0 does not release com port and no other application can access the com port."
but no solution. any ideas? thanks, 73, tom
Obviously something is accessing COM 5, can you provide a screenshot ofyour VarAC settings so we have at least something to work off?
oh..and yes, i have the latest correct ini file which reveals dx10 in the dropdowns
