The authentication interface assumes a GMail-like user@domain.com authentication string. This breaks any email-suste, that separates out users from domain names. My system is one of those systems -- I authenticate based on a user, and my email address for this program <callsign>@<callsign>.org is very different from my user-name. I could send mails because my IP address is whitelisted inside Postfix, but to pull down mails from IMAP is impossible. IMO, the Thunderbird model would be a more flexible way to go.

Thanks for your prompt reply, Irad but I'm running WINE under MX-Linux (Debian-based). I have no anti-virus software installed in either, unless WINE installs it by default, which I seriously doubt. Google mail could be performing an anti-virus behavior, but it seems like you would have seen the problem under Windows by now.
Best,
Cal AD8Q
I don't think the above is the cause of my problem but I'm seeing IMAP authentication errors when pressing the IMAP test button. I'm running under WINE. The SMTP test passes.
Thanks,

VarAC.log:
15/07/2025 04:32:13 - Email gateway error: Unable to receive email from IMAP server. An error occurred while attempting to establish an SSL or TLS connection.
This usually means that the SSL certificate presented by the server is not trusted by the system for one or more of
the following reasons:
1. The server is using a self-signed certificate which cannot be verified.
2. The local system is missing a Root or Intermediate certificate needed to verify the server's certificate.
3. A Certificate Authority CRL server for one or more of the certificates in the chain is temporarily unavailable.
4. The certificate presented by the server is expired or invalid.
5. The set of SSL/TLS protocols supported by the client and server do not match.
6. You are trying to connect to a port which does not support SSL/TLS.
See https://github.com/jstedfast/MailKit/blob/master/FAQ.md#ssl-handshake-exception for possible solutions.
This was brought to my attention already and I have a version where you can enter an imap username.
Send me an email and I'll send u a version to test.
