Hi Irad,

I have seen you have written this application in C# and are using .NET Framework 4.7.2 as a Windows forms application with everything in one executable.

Are you planning to upgrade to .NET to 6.0 anytime? .NET 6.0 can be used on Linux as well.

And under which licence do you provide this fantastic free software tool? Is it GPL?

Yes I know. at some point this decision will be made. but its not the right time though :)

As for plugins - VarAC is not an open source software. So what plugins/addons did you have in mind?

Well you can think of anything which is possible:

Change of colour scenes.
Multi Language support? (Not everyone in the HAM world really understands English)
More Tag/Gestures?
Better Away detection (Even now I am typing this, VarAC says I am away? Which I am not)
Anything else people can think of...

Well Any manipulation of the running EXE is not the scope of the license. Any software that works aside VarAC and can empower it is more then welcome. Like I know people created tools that reads the log files and so all sort of things. like automatic uploading QSOs to various online loggers etc.

Feel free to submit feature requests if there is anything in particular you would like to see.

Hi there.

You can already run VarAC on linux using Wine. there are some who did it already.

At some point I will upgrade of course but as many hams use old rigs and old OSs I might not do it in the near future especially when you can use WINE to run VarAC.

As for license - there is a simple license file in the VarAC dir.

Yes, many hams still use Windows 7, or even I have seen XP still being used.

But at some point choices have to be made.

I have found the licence file indeed.

- No changes to the software.

Too bad :( Will you add the option for plugins or add-ons later on?
