Hello I am a newbie here. Why does the tx/rx mode change when I qsy as on call cq and listen for a free spot & mode changes which requires changing back to pkt mode

Make sure you select the right mode (USD/USB-D) under settings.
If it still persists, send a screenshots of your settings screen.
