FT1000D and Vara

My rig is a FT 1000D. The Vara rig menu has the option for FT1000. I wonder if it makes a difference. Secondly, the CAT control seems to be working; however, when the change in frequency occurs, my rig defaults to USB, and the RTTY button kicks in. I wonder if anyone has any ideas on why this is happening? Thanks. Joe, WD6R

If I am not mistaken - with FT-1000 you do not have a specific "mode" for digital mode. I assume you use plain USB. so under the VarAC settings change from USB-D to USB.

Please let me know if it works so I can remove the USB-D option for future CAT control configuraitons.

Thanks for your help. To be sure, my rig is the FT-1000D and not the FT-1000. I've been trying to connect the rig CAT both through the drop down menu in the VaraAC for the FT-1000 option. Also, I am trying to use Omni Rg as well (with either the drop down menu for my rig or with HRD). When I use Omni Rig, I get the calling frequencey as "0" and the listening frequency as "-750". I've been reading about needing virtual port software (VSPD) to share com ports when using HRD/Omni Rig). I am getting out ok based on the PSK map. I am just struggling with the CAT control for changing frequencies automatically. Again, thanks! I am a blundered when it comes to com ports and all other computer related challenges!

Hi @joenardo

Your post was about "wrong" mode selection (RTTY and not USB). For that I believe I have provided you with an answer.

Just to be sure - you are now struggling with Com port configuration.

As you are currently using HRD and as VarAC still does not support HRD rig control, the only option for you to have both controling your transceiver simultanoisly is through a port emulator. I use alsoVSPE sometimes which is a great soltuion and it works for me. Can't help you with configuring it but I am sure that with some trial and error it will work.

VarAC will support HRD. I assume in a 2-3 months from now.
