I've received a few VarAC Wednesday check-ins where <EM> and <SBJ> tags have wound up in the message body. I've haven't been able to duplicate this so I don't know what's causing it. This could well be user error or some novel use of a canned message. The issue for me is it makes it harder for our software to locate the station's callsign.

I noticed this issue as a sender, where a vmail template in my canned messages ends up with tags in the message body.
Was there a change in the parsing between versions - but the canned messages were not checked and updated?
Is there a slight difference between parsing of templates for emails and vmails that triggers it?
Looks like I can remove <SM> and it works for a vmail template. But the tag parsing behavior is unexpected!
Suggestion
Modify the parsing to handle/fix canned messages that are written in the intuitive form - similar to how they are sent, and similar to email messages.
More care and QA is needed for the code that parses message templates.
*** Example ***
Canned template:
<SM><SBJ:Subject>Message
Resulting message text:
<SM>Message
It does feel like someone is using this text in the body of the email.
I have no other reasonable explenation to this.
You can contact that ZS station and ask them to see how that email look like in their outbox... sending a screenshot
