I tested VerAC simplex FM tonight with another ham at 1200 baud (FTM-400 DRA-50[TNC]). INSANE how fast our chat's were flying. We were curious if we could somehow run a local simplex net. My suggestion was have everyone beacon and a new controller run down the list and connect. This is my first time doing VarAC, multiple users decoding/sending could lead to dropped messages. Maybe if multiple stations joined a net controller.. when the controller sends a message to all, the software looks for ACK's from each station? Then the control gets passed down the list in order of being connected, sends a message, everyone ACKs, continue down the list. Maybe it's impossible.. just an idea.

Now with broadcasts on V6 - its possible. Done. 73s.
As a Point-2-Point mode, VARA will not provide reasonable response time in this circumstances where it will need to connect and disconnect all parties to send a single message. I do see down the road how I harness the AX25 protocol that VARA support (currently using it for Async relay notifications) for those types of group chats. but not at the moment.
SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE DOING WITH THE FTM-400 WHAT I WANT TO DO WITH MINE AS WELL. SENDING DIGITAL MESSAGES USING 2M/70CM. I SEE YOU ARE USING THE DRA-50 TNC. THAT MIGHT BE THE COMPONENT I AM MISSING TO GET THIS SETUP. SO FAR NO SUCCESS, BUT I DON'T HAVE THE DRA-50. ANY SUGGESTIONS TO GET THIS SETUP WOULD BE EXTREMELY APPRICIATED.
