I apologize. that was a a fix for another bug that created this bug :( I am sorry for the inconvenient. I will release a new version soon with a fix for that as well.
In the meantime, although not elegant, you can edit your VarAC.ini file with pre-configured connections including digipeating ones. it should work.

I just tested it @N3MEL is works out of the box as is. simply in the CONNECT TO write"X VIA Y" where Y is the digipeater :
4Z1AC VIA NC3Z

Trying this on 3.4 i am unable to enter the space in-between the call and the via example ab1cd via de5fg, comes out ab1cdviade5fg

Just letting u know i will allow spaces only if u set your modem type to varafm under settungs. Spaces make problems for varahf users
