When I change the frequency (or when I start VarAC) the correct frequency pops up on VFO-A and RX is illuminated on VFO-A, but TX turns off on VFO-A and turns on for VFO-B (which is set to a random frequency). I can manually switch the TX back to VFO-A after changing the frequency without any complaints, but I'd rather not have to.
WSJT-X does not do this, and it is also using Omnirig Rig 1 (FTDX-3000-DAT rig type) for rig control of my Yaesu FTDX3000 .
@irad d Unfortunately, no change with either Rig 1 or Rig 2. Wonder what is up with my particular configuration. I suppose I can just pay attention and manually switch TX back before I try to transmit after switching frequencies.
@Charles Congdon I sent you an email with a possible fix. please let me know if it works or not.
@irad d thanks for your continued efforts. I've attached the OmniRig configuration that works with my HF rig as I have it configured.
@Charles Congdon Hi there
I reached out to OmniRig developer about this.
Once I hear back I'll give you an update.
can you please upload a screenshot of the OmniRig config you have ?
73 for now
Hmm. It's possible that I've set things up incorrectly, but I'm not seeing anything obvious in Omnirig or my radio's manual that might cause split in digital operation. I tried using another rig profile to control it (FT991-DATA) and it does the same thing. JS8Call is using only VFO-A with Omnirig rig 1 when changing frequencies. flrig/fldigi seem to force VFOA, but obviously they are working differently.
Interesting and possibly related - some times when I change frequencies (especially 14.105) VacAC shows three "Omnirig: Change frequency" entries within a second of each other. Looks like this in the log:
27/11/2021 12:26:49 - OmniRig: Change frequency - manual freq change with one entry
27/11/2021 12:27:05 - OmniRig: Change frequency - manual freq change with one entry
27/11/2021 12:27:22 - OmniRig: Change frequency - manual freq change with one entry
27/11/2021 12:27:44 - OmniRig: Change frequency - manual freq change with three entries
27/11/2021 12:27:44 - OmniRig: Change frequency
27/11/2021 12:27:45 - OmniRig: Change frequency
And even when I see only a single "Change Frequency," the TX light for VFO-A lights up for a fraction of a second, then turns off and the TX for VFO-B lights up.
Any debug logging I can turn on to give us an idea what sort of messages are going back and forth via Omnirig?
You sure its not a setup on your end to use Cross RX/TX with VFO A/B ?
WSJT-X do things differently then how I work but I am not messing specifically with VFO B. I am using a single command. please double check on your end if something is misconfigured. if still persists - tell me and I'll dig in.
