HI. De G4HLZ
I have noticed that when a new beacon is recieved or a new cq is recieved, an alert tone is sent to the transmitter and so it sends the audio alert tone over the air. I need to divert the alert tones to the speaker and the data to the usb port but cant find the control for that. Can someone help. mark.wood@engineer.com
Hi Irad,
are the sounds embedded in the software or is VarAC using the Windows sounds. And if they are the Windows standard, is there a list of the sounds used so that we can change the sounds by swapping the windows files. my goal is to make the alert sounds softer, less loud, and different from the default Windows alert sounds.
YES!! IT WORKS!
Yes that was the problem, I had not noticed that the default output for the windows had changed to the USB sound card. When i made the speaker to be the default then the alert tones came out of the speaker and the vara tones came out on the air.
Thanks and well done, de Mark G4HLZ
You have to make sure your computer audio devices are set as Windows default and your radio digital audio is set for use in your digital apps, within the apps.
Thanks irad.
The computer has both an in built speaker and also a audio socket, but the Signalink USB Codec is connected via a USB port, which is connected to the Signalink USB codec, (the VARA modem has this choice). So yes, i can split them if i can find the HMI.
I think that with other digital mode software i have used, you are able to select to have the alert tones (which are just to alert humans to the arrival of a new contact) to be directed to a different audio device, other than the USB device so that it is not transmitted. But i can't seem to find a HMI to create this opton. I am using VOX to key the FT 747 GX transmitter. I wonder if there is a HMI I missed somehow and if not, can this be fixed in the next release?
I assume you are using a single audio output for your speakers and your Transceiver.
If you can split them its best.
If not, why is your PTT is keyed ? are you using VOX ?
