VarAC not responding all of a sudden

Hello, I upgraded to Varac 11.07 yesterday, and everything was working fine. I had two configs that I would switch between, one for the x6100 and one for the ICOMM 7300. I never had a problem. Now, when I get to launch Varac, it always locks up.

I'm not sure what happened. I tried uninstalling both Variac and Vara HF. I have the latest version of Vara Hf.

I uninstalled Vara AC & reinstalled several times, same thing. I also tried installing older versions, same thing. Not sure what is going on. I used it all night last night w/ no issues. I even tried to copy the backup files from previous versions. My ic7033 will tune when Varac initially loads, Varac HF sees the audio.

Howvert Vara AC just partially loads every time & Windows states not responding ???

My Windows did do an update this morning

Not sure if that had anything to do with it

Yes I this was the update that I uninstalled 2025-05 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5058499). I have turned off updates for now but at some point will have to update.. Wonder what the fix is going to be ?

I am also experiencing this problem. According to the attached log file VarAC gets as far as checking for the latest version of VarAC and locks up.

Can you try disable updated under the VarAC ini file and see if it workaround it ?

Look for CheckForUpdates and set to OFF

Since doing this check last night other updates have happened and I can not longer remove the offending update without uninstalling all the subsequent updates. If you have any ideas on how to solve this problem it would be much appreciated.

Well, turns out it was Microsoft. Update cause it to lock up. I uninstalled the update and VarAC is now working. The update is:

you can un-install the .net from the "Add remove programs" windows tool and then go to the .net download page and install a new version of it.

Which version of .NET?

.NET 4.8.1 neither can be uninstalled nor installed, because it is part of Windows 11.

So I installed .NET 9.0.5 Runtime, but did not help.

VarAC uses .net V4.8. if you have others - try to uninstall to check if it is the cause...

Well, it is probably not related to the VarAC upgrade as you mentioned going back to an older version and the issue still persist it is less likely to be related to VarAC new version. But still - lets try to understand what's going on in your setup. It feels like a Microsoft .NET issue but lets try to see where VarAC get stuck as maybe it will shed more light.

Go into the VarAC.ini file and set the parameter DebugMode to ON
Start VarAC until it freezes.
Send me the section of the VarAC.log containing the startup logs

In addition, can you please tell how your start VarAC. is that with a specific profile ?

VarAC 11.2 introduces a new feature where it remembers the last profile you activated and tries to launch it.

When I try to upload VarAC.log I get "This file is corrupted so it can’t be uploaded. Try a different file."

This is not an issue. your Language file contains multiple values of the same key so it just tells it can load them. You can revert your UI to ENGLISH to get rig of those and check without those errors if there is other errors that can explain the hang
