I cannot get my IC-7100 to work with VarAC HF. It works fine with VarAC FM. When I use the HF profile the radio produces a strange sound and the "BUSY" indicator will not go off. I have tried with the internal sound card, a DRA-36 and a SignalLink all with the same results. VarAC works fine with both my IC-7300 and IC-9700. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jim,
I am sending this video so you can hear the strange sound. The fist few seconds are Winlink and then I switched to VarAC. Note the "Busy" in the upper left corner
Not a problem, just doing some trouble shooting. I have been doing digital modes since the late 90ies.
Then I am sure that you check that the proper soundcard is checked in VARA with the receive and transmit. Bring up the programs and take some screen shots of your setup. This could help with troubleshooting.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but I am an experienced Winlink and FLDigi user. Yes I am using the HF profile, not the FM, and the program opens VARA (not VARA FM). The radio is in USB-D mode and I am using "CAT" control at 19200 for both PTT and Frequency Control. The setup is identical to the one I use for my IC-7300 except for the radio model. BTW, I have tried other baud rates as well with no change.
If you are using VarAC on HF, make sure you are connecting to VARA HF and not VAR FM. Also make sure that your radio in going into the proper mode for the frequency (USB) and not FM. If you still run into issues take a few screen shots of you setup and share them with us.

Additional info. The radio works fine with FLDigi and Winlink on HF. If I try VarAC enough times the noise stays in the radio on all HF bands and I need to do a hard reset and re-program in order to get rid of it. Also, I have tried 2 other computers with the same results.
I use FLrig with my IC 7100 and IC 705. I'm not sure what your issue with hearing strange noise
