I like to propose the introduction of an ECHO-command. It should exist beside the Ping-command but sent in the broadcast mode. The echo-command should trigger an echo from the target station and shall contain the SNR at the end of the answer.
First open the broadcast window, insert the target callsign, mark the ECHO-box. Then tape a word on the broadcast text line e.g. TEST or no word and wait for the answer. The target station answers when the calling channel is free and attaches the SNR of the station that called him.
Thanks for the attention.
Greetings to Irad and to all stations who are just as enthusiastic about VARA and VarAC as I am ;-)

Hi Chris
I would put this proposal in the feature request catergory of this forum.

Since reception of a broadcast requires a fairly strong signal, I'm not sure what value this would add, when we can get the same result from a PING, which will work with weaker signals. (The PING sequence will be MUCH shorter in an upcoming version of VarAC).
