Here's a new one for me. I connected to WB6EDK and received "WB6EDK AUTOMATICALLY DECLINED YOUR QSY INVITATION BECAUSE IT IS OUTSIDE THEIR PERMITTED QSY RANGE." The email was ultimately transferred on the CF (14.105 MHz) when my station returned there automatically after not receiving a QSY confirmation. My questions are:
1) This message implies that a QSY range for 20 meters is either not there or has been limited for some reason. Settings -> Auto-QSY Allowed Frequency Ranges. Is that how it should be interpretted?
2) Or . . . is it also possible that the Settings -> QSO -> Auto QSY is unchecked?
3) Should a beacon be able to "advertise" itself as EMAIL GATEWAY if Auto QSY is not enabled?
4) Should the default behavior be that if QSY request to a beacon to transfer email or VMAIL is not accepted, then the requesting station disconnects from the beacon when returning to the CF? In other words, if I want to transfer email or VMAIL off the CF, then should the the transfer be aborted rather than transfering on the CF? Mark KB0US
What this station actually did was comment out the entire 20 meter band. I'm not sure he thought this through completely since he was beaconing as an Email Gateway on 20 meters, but it's his radio.
Your Q 1 is correct. They have freqs locked out. As an example in my case on 20M I have slots 3,4 and 5 blocked out since I do not want to QRM the packet network, but all others are open. On 10M I have slot 1 that has a local birdie that I lock out.
