The GUI is overly complex. Some new users have mentioned to me they are overwhelmed by it! But a lot of the clutter could be removed with minor rework of the GUI!
Here are some suggestions to simplify the GUI:
Make the Connect Modem / Disconnect buttons context dependent: E.g., when connected, disconnect. When disconnected, connect. Note that some buttons are already context dependent: Examples: TUNE, BEACON, FREQ SCHEDULE, etc.
Make the Connect / Disconnect buttons context dependent.
Make these buttons less prominent. OR
Better: Hide them from the main screen unless enabled in the settings! How often are they even used?
Warn the user and require confirmation (could have a timeout), since most users probably clicked it by mistake!
Make the Call CQ / End CQ buttons context dependent!
Background The Connect Modem / Disconnect Modem buttons are larger than the main connect / disconnect buttons! And sometimes I accidentally click them by mistake. It seems to mess up my connection and disconnect.
Are these buttons commonly used? IMHO it would be better to hide rarely used features unless optionally enabled in the settings.

Sorry, I think I mistyped (and there doesn't seem to be a way to edit the original post)!
I suggest to hide the Connect Modem / Disconnect Modem unless they are enabled in settings (i.e. create a new setting to enable this control, for the advanced users like Irad).
The normal CONNECT button should remain on the main screen! When connected, it should change to a DISCONNECT button.
