First off, I'm NOT talking about a PBBS or mini BBS, like in the Packet Radio days. I'm thinking of something similar to what JS8CALL does, where someone can leave me a message when I'm in "away" mode.
The fact that I have a message would be indicated by some sort of button on the interface. Clicking on that button would open a window where the message could be read, and possibly replied to.
It would also nice if I could leave a message for a station that connected to me, and have them notified at connect.
Thanks, and 73, Joe WD4KAV
Can the message window be (at least) doubled in size, with the ability to select larger fonts? If you're reading (and in the future replying) to a message, then that should take precedence over the normal VarAC UI.
Thanks... Joe
every time I think the features can't get more exciting; they do ;)
Next version will include more store & forward features
Released in V4.1.6
Merging into this thread also Peters input: Mail box print capability
Hi Irad, I think you were/are working on a mailbox facility for varAC and thought it would be great to add the ability to allow the received/sent messages to be sent to a printer. It could then be used to record the messages in an Emmcom situation or simply printed for filing in the case of say some useful antenna measurement or greeting message (maybe one day from the ISS) Peter GW4OZU
Yes I agree with WD4KAV that a simple message store and retrieve system would be great when away from the radio.
Gotcha. I think I have a few ideas for that. will add to the list.
