I run a VE7CC DX Cluster with the latest software. It is W7JD-1 >>> w7jd.ddns.net, Port 9000. As I am the sysop of the DX node, I require a password to log in. I have this set up in the configuration, however for some reason, the connection is never completed. It appears to be a matter of timing, and/or not receiving an expected test. Here is the output from a VarAC connect attempt to my DX cluster, with the resulting error message at the very bottom. I would appreciate any suggestions. I suggest automating this in your software by setting up a script to send SET/SKIM upon login. * To receive FT4 or FT8 spots: SET/FT4 and SET/FT8. To disable them type UNSET/FT4 and UNSET/FT8. * From time to time there will be disconnects. It is a fact of life. This may be due to internet related issues or Microsoft Windows automatic updates. Should that occur, simply reconnect. Please enable AUTOCONNECT or AUTORECONNECT in your client. * Also, as an aid in keeping the connection operating, please enable KEEPALIVE. I have Spectrum Internet, which at times is very poor. I get loss of service often for no reason. VaraC worked well before the current release, with or without the use of OmniRig. Now with the new version of VaraC, CAT control no longer works no matter what I do. I downloaded the most up to date CAT files for VaraC and OmniRig, but no joy. The same radio works perfectly with HRD, FLDIGI, WSJTX, and several other programs. Yes, I tried IC-7300 DATA in OmniRig, but still no joy. If anyone is running the current VaraC version with an IC-7300, I would be interesting to see your configuration. Interestingly, the new VaraC works well with my IC-756 series of radios but not the IC-7300. It was the other way around prior to the latest update. Thanks for your consideration... I run an Icom IC-7300 with VarAC. Upon startup of the software, as well as upon every frequency change, my rig is always forced to RTTY-R. It should be in USB-D. Something is wrong. Apparently an incorrect command is being sent to the radio by the software. It should always start up and stay in USB-D. Of course I continue to operate fine with VarAC by manually switching my IC-7300 to USB-D but I should not have to do that. Best regards, Gary, K7EK
