How do you get 7300 to default to fil2? "VarAC defaults to FILTER2 in both my IC-705 and IC-7300"

Are there any plans to make freq choice in QSY dialog box a drop down like the main app window? That would be helpful.

Thank you. I was wondering about this. When I use a 600Hz filter the waterfall is more dense and the audio sounds narrow. To the ear it is harder to hear signals yet from the article you reference it suggests the VARA modem actually benefits from less/lower noise.

It worked fine with those settings- (DTR/RTS both to H and StopBits to 1) no 3rd party app needed. Thx for the help.

Question- When using narrow filters the density of the waterfall display increases a lot. Visually it would suggest more noise yet when I use 500 BW filter on my IC-7300 VARA modem still seems to decode fine. Is this an effect of 7300 software or an effect of filters in general (or SDR filters/display). I watch the waterfall a lot and at narrow settings the signal is lost in the "noise".

Hi Ira- If the windows are short term use then why make it forced on top assuming as you say users are likely to use and close? I don't have any other software that forces itself on top the way VarAC does and is an anomaly. I often see unfamiliar with basic Windows OS window navigation like Alt-Tab to switch easily between open apps.

Hi- Those windows are on top of every app in the OS. The mail window can end up on top of the message window and then you cannot move the mail window at all. Game window is same I discovered tonight but it cannot even be moved. Basically you can easily end up having windows (mailbox and maybe game) that cannot me moved or closed. Changing focus to a web browser or any other program is occluded by the messages widow that remains on top. Just not friendly design for moving between apps- look at QRZ come back etc- window just stuck there on top entire time. Thx and happy 2025 to you. 73- Clifford KK6QMS

An idea I would love to see in Winlink: calling freqs/beacons similar to VarAC. Waste so much time and battery in the field trying to find a gateway. If there were beacon freqs one could simply hear a gateway and I suppose beacon could also contain op freqs though that could be cumbersome. In any event Winlink to me is good for stationary base stations who can build up a list of favorites they reliably contact but even then much time and power is wasted trying to make connections IMO. Thx to the developer of VarAC it is a really great program and covers a lot of bases I appreciate. Very very well done. Kudos.

I cannot attach log or screenshots. CPU and VARA meters all stable/normal throughout. Debug was on I turned it off restarted with same results. Over 5GB RAM avail. PC responding normally in all other apps etc during issue. Not sure what you mean by walk you through the items. Simple "copy all" intermittently produces the error I sent in the OP. Platform is an up to date Win10 Home x64. If there is anything else I can provide you with let me know. Does not stop the app from working. Thanks.

log, commands, beacons, I think data and other areas too. Generally happens once- hit continue and then does not happen again for that area. But I have not tested it over time extensively.

I tried setting 8400 it did not stick. I downloaded manuals and a powerpoint presentation from the manuals area here and saw 8350 shown and that worked. Will be very nice to have a monitor! Thx for the replies.

Duplicated Vara folder and mapped- but there was no instruction on port settings. restarted VarAC and 2 Vara modems opened but was unsure which was which. Upon opening the settings on one of them it would not allow me to close it without configuring a port. Impossible to close- not an ideal cfg. In any event does the monitoring modem need a port configured? Thx.

I was not suggesting a waterfall- that is avail in limited way in the VARA modem. I am suggesting the actual text or commands etc being transmitted. Sending chat text is obvious but there are other things happening that would be helpful to see, Thanks.
