Where to see what is being transmitted??

New to VarAC- very familiar w FT8/FLDigi/etc. I am perplexed that my station was negotiating a connection to someone yet there was no way to see what was actually being transmitted by my station. WSJTX shows this bottom left and IMO every app ought to show what is being transmitted. If I am missing something in the VarAC window please let me know. If this is actually not possible then please add it. Thx and 73

Hi:

You use VARA (FM or HF) screen to have access to signal. VARA signal screen output is very different than the FT8/FT4 waterfall, but is a matter of getting used to it. Or... see if VARA developer implements something in that direction. Interesting question.

I was not suggesting a waterfall- that is avail in limited way in the VARA modem. I am suggesting the actual text or commands etc being transmitted. Sending chat text is obvious but there are other things happening that would be helpful to see, Thanks.

VARA is an ARQ mode. Meaning it has CRC error corrections and compression as well as packet headers and such. What the modem spit out is just the decoded message without all the unreadable data around it.

When you are in a QSO you will see the incoming traffic on screen and not all the binary garbage around it.

With FT8 - you do not see CRC data. you see decoded data which is the bottom line.
