Hello all, I have just installed VarAC and HFmodem. my radio is a xiergu x6100, everything looks ok and the VarAC calls the modem ok plus radio CAT control is working. I am not receiving anything at the VarAC window but the radio is. If I go to VARA HF modem it shows the frequency as 20m band on the sound are settings but VarAC is set to the 40m band and has correctly set the radio to 7.105.00, the modem Audio input shows a signal approx -12db. In the the modem setup it show line in as USB audio device which I assume is correct as the pc sees the radio with 2 com ports USB for the radio. if I use the beacon button the radio transmit my call sign is 2e0bnl. still nothing seen in the VarAC window. Any help appreciated.

Ureka, i changed to the 20m band a started getting beacons and a CQ also a QSO but i as i wasnt expecting anything messed up the QSO as VarAC said i was on the calling frequency. So i need to read up on correct operation. Apologies to SM6USU for my poor operation.
VarAC log from last startup it complains "failed to connect VARA monitor modem"

I had a look at the HF modem log and it states "soundcard missing in action" the port settings are correct i think.

Thankyou i will get all that today and also leave it running, i realised that the belief it was tuned on the modem to the 20m band was incorrect it simply looks like a example screenshot on setting Gain. I checked PSKreporter and i am being heard so thats good.
Leave it for a few hours see if you decode some beacons.
I am happy to take a look at the log file to see if it is clean from errors.
Post a screenshot of your VarAC main screen, your VaraC settings, and the VARA modem so we can validate you have set things up correctly.
Also enable the VARA modem monitor feature (look under VarAC settings screen on the top right) to monitor the frequency traffic.
