I have been using VarAC for a few weeks now, and really enjoy it. However, I still haven't mastered the coordination of the back-and-forth transmissions of a QSO. How does one know when the other station is done with composing and transmitting a message, and when it's okay for me to transmit my reply? There is a popup message displayed in VarAC that he is typing, but when that goes away, I don't know if he is done and waiting for my reply or just pausing with the composition of his message. As a result, there seems to be a lot of two QSO stations doubling with each other, and the QSO doesn't flow naturally.
What is the proper etiquette of conducting a QSO with VarAC? Most operators on VarAC don't use the BTU abbreviation to signal when they are ready to turn the conversation over to the other operator.

When an is typing event is sent, it sticks for up 30 seconds or so and vanish. If the other side continue to type, another event will be sent. In between there could be short period of times where you don't have an indication.
But I am pretty sure this is not the case. But this:

VARA is an ARQ mode, this is all handled by the ARQ handshakes. There is no doubling or a need for you to tell the other side "over". Just type in a natural cadence and let the ARQ take care of the transmission flow.
