Where do I get the certificate ID when setting up CONNECT. And is there a special password or do I choose it.
I haven't found anything sent to me since signing up, except for the verification code to post in forum.

No such thing as certification ID with VarAC and there is nothing sent to you after download except a quick start guide. All you need to operate varac is in the file your downloaded.
