I am using VarAC with SDR software (actually it's SDR Console). I have some very odd behaviour with the "sniff" command. I won't bore with the exact details, but when I issue a "sniff" from VarAC, using the CAT monitor inside SDR Console, it appears to send exactly the same CAT command as if I were actually changing the frequency using the VarAC channel slider, but actually it does not do this in SDR Console. I'm using the Kenwood Generic CAT command file. So my question is, exactly what CAT command is being sent when doing a "sniff" that is in any way different to to just an actual change of frequency by operating the VarAC channel change slider? It must be a subtly different command being sent because I don't get exactly the same result in SDRC as if I were doing a straight frequency change.
Can anyone illuminate? If not, is there a any CAT monitor software that can monitor the exact and full CAT command being sent out on the com port from VarAC? I need something simple because I only have close to "operator level" software ability.

I am using SDR Console v3.3 here and have not seen this issue. The slider, pull down and "Sniff" button all properly switch the freq of SDR Console. You are hold down the Sniff button as noted to the right of the button I assume.
