I have a friend that just installed VarAC for the first time this morning. He installed V5.1.8. He is using a FTDX-3000. He is using CAT control for PTT & Frequency. He is has VarAC frequency control configured to use Digital_USB. When he sends a beacon his TX shits + 400 HZ. His FTDX-3000 Digital mode is set to PSK. Any idea why his transmissions are 400 HZ high? He has been using FT-8 with no issues for some time.

I have been using an FTdX-3000 for 4 years and run it almost exclusively in Data Mode. with a number of data software programs. I have the menu settings configured to run always in DATA MODE 1 (OTHER) rather than using the PSK mode for Menu Item 067.
Attached is an image showing the settings that I am using. Also note the frequency settings that are configured in Menu Items 068, 069, and 070. These settings have always worked for me with all of the data mode programs that I am using WSJT-X, Fldigi, VARA, Winlink, MMSSTV, and including VarAC.
I hope this is helpful.

I can see where that would be a problem. (Just being a smart so and so) The typo just struck me funny.
So the actual radio switches freq on TX? Does it revert back on RX? I never used a FTDX3000 but I would double check menu items 067-070 as ref here https://www.g1exk.com/yaesu-ftdx-3000-ft8-settings
