I don't know if this applies to you. On my ic7100 I usually run the DSP Noise Reduction between 4-6, usually 6. But for digital transmission it can defeat its purpose. So I turn NR off. I hope that helps for you, or anyone else. It certainly interfered with my local Packet FM Winlink repeater decode capability. Even with a s40 signal the DSP got in the way. Rory W4RJG

Hi Irad, I wish to reword my explanation. I gave the wrong impression of what the problem is. It is not about SSIDs. When VARA HF starts when starting VarAC, the title bar has the following. The station call sign (W4RJG), and followed by AX.25 related call signs with special suffixes (W4RJG-R W4RJG-T). My and one other station in my group was missing the -R item in the title bar, another station was missing -T. I trust that makes clear what the problem is. It does then affect the actual AX.25 protocol. In my case I could transmit a beacon, but had no reception. The VARA interface worked great, as usual. Jan, I have never seen any definition of EmComm that cannot use phone or email. EmComm is a generic term covering any and all types of Emergency Communications. When police respond to an emergency, or a fire apparatus, wildfire team - they can use those tools. When the earthquake hit Turkey they used phones and email. Specifically in the Amateur Radio world, this is also true. There are efforts to ensure emergency groups here in USA to be able to function for our served agencies without any means of communication, except what we bring to the emergency. But no group I no of anywhere in this country, nor Canada, train ONLY for a Amateur Radio RF capability only. 73 Rory W4RJG

I agree. Allowing any Alert text as part of a beacon would be very helpful. Since the beacons are solid connections it would advance the broacast Alert feature even further. 73 Rory Griffin W4RJG
