Ok all up and running... Dieter VK3FFB assisted... I purchased a USB to RS232 converter and set it up on Com 3. Initially I had some confusion with the RS232 pinout and chose to use a BC5547 transistor to present earth to the PTT RCA input. These two references were helpful. And... https://www.etechnophiles.com/rs232-cable-pinout-applications/ I still cant test the PTT without getting 'access to Com3 denied' but I simply tested by sending the beacon repeatedly. Mmmm... 31 views and no comments.... Has anyone successfully managed to use RTS to activate PTT on an older rig for Vara using a USB to RS232 adapter ?

Here are screenshots of my settings...

When I try to test PTT I get the message "Access to Port Com 3 denied." Looking in device manager the USB adapter is on Com 3.

I can switch on DTR/RTS but there must be a serial comm setup ?

OK cool, I wonder who might have controlled PTT through serial port that could pick brains of...

Do I need to be using Omnirig ?

Hi Gary, I have finally proved it to my rig refusing to work on VOX. Test tone modulates perfectly when I am on MOX. I have tried anti trip level and VOX level settings with no result. I can hear the tone coming through on monitor. Well the FT767 is an old, but good rig after all, and getting a bit tired like me... Thanks for your help. Carl Emerson.
