I'm working on a book that will feature VARA FM as a chapter, and VarAC as another chapter. It occurs to me that there are situations where it could be advantageous to have sepearate VARA FM local area networks in the same area that don't "see" each other. Example, a group of high power VARA FM WIDE stations operating on a UHF frequency, and another group of VARA FM WIDE / NARROW stations operating on VHF. I understand that VARA FM WIDE and VARA FM NARROW stations can interoperate on the same frequency. In my hoped-for scenario, two VARA FM applications (with different radios connected) could "recognize" each other as a VARA FM digipeater and thus forward all VARA FM data between two VARA FM LANs. But, I don't see such a capabiity in the VARA FM application. Thus I'm wondering if such a capability exists in VarAC because most of my imagined utility in an inter-LAN gateway function are the higher level functions such as email, messaging, file transfer etc. are capabilities of VarAC rather than built into VARA FM. I'll guess that the VarAC email capability could be configured to be able to transfer email between two different VARA FM LANs, but again, I'd also like to be able to transfer text messages, file transfers, etc. between the two LANs. As the article describes, you'd compose a (used to be in the RTTY days called a brag tape) brief message about you, your Amateur Radio activities, your station, etc. It was a lot of fun to check out the "new user" when they would come on the air. The big difference from the canned messages is that you could request this file, and it was intended to be for public consumption. And you could have multiple finger files. We had a convention with multiple files like <callsign> and "station" and a few others I've forgotten now. Thus finger n8gnj would display my finger file with the ilename n8gnj (I forget the suffix) finger station would display the finger file with the filename station. Certainly not a critical feature, but I would enjoy having that available. Perhaps name it something more au courant like "retrieve info file". Or maybe "brag tape" as homage to the RTTY days.

I browsed around looking for this feature and the closest I found was VarAC Frequency Scheduler. I'm imagining using a local FM repeater for exchanging VarAC Vmails and bulletins, but only doing so in the early morning hours such as between 00:00 and 05:00 when the repeater isn't in use by voice users. (And, yes, I will be doing this with the knowledge of the group that owns the repeater). Does the VarAC Frequency Scheduler accommodate this usage? To be clear, I don't want VarAC to attempt to send messages at any time except the acceptable window of 00:00 - 05:00.
