I have since found what the problem was. Using the Vox to transmit, the delay was set too long after using it mostly for CW. By turning the Vox delay off, the sig was being picked up from the beginning as the receiver rig was going into Tx immediately. With the delay on, my radio was missing the first part of the Tx from the connecting radio. Hope that is clear.
