When Attempting to Connect, Can Hear Station Replies, But VarAC Doesn't Respond
I think this is a problem on my end, but I don't know how to resolve it. I am aware of the details only because I am a sysop for the remote station and can watch what is happening at both ends. This has happened with other stations I try to connect to, but not all.
When I attempt to make a connection to the remote station from my home base, the remote station hears me and replies. I can hear with my ears the reply, but VarAC doesn't respond. If the remote station initiates a connection request, then VarAC responds as normal. Beacons sent by the remote station (20m today, for example) show SNR -07dB on my end. Beacons sent by my station show SNR -14dB on on the remote station's end. If anything, I should be easily responding to the remote station's replys and the remote station should be struggling to hear me.
Is there a tweak anywhere to improve this?

N5ARC is a Flex 6600. NO6GN is an IC-746Pro. The issue is that when NO6GN attempts to connect to N5ARC, the replies from N5ARC can be audibly heard immediately after each connection attempt Tx from NO6GN completes (VARA is configured to make 10 attempts), but VarAC doesn't catch the replies and the connection attempt fails. However, when N5ARC attempts to connect to NO6GN there is no issue with VarAC (on NO6GN) hearing N5ARC this time and the connection is successful. Connection attempts between the two stations are successful in only one direction where the Flex sends connection requests to the IC-746Pro.
Do you think that this is an issue with the configuration settings on the Flex?
