Exit leaves vara background process running

Hello,

When starting then exiting VarAC and Vara (in any order) it leaves a vara background process running (with no UI), which must be killed with Task Manager (Windows 10). If not killed, the next run dialogs "Error: another copy of VARA is running from this folder." So I have to run Task Manager and kill the running background process each time before running VarAC and/or VARA.

What I've tried: in Settings, uncheck "Automatically start VARA" then start VARA manually, then VarAC, then exit VarAC then VARA, in any order, and it leaves the background process running. Also, clicking "Disconnect modem" before exiting still leaves the background process running. Also tried taking ownership of the executables, and running as administrator, makes not difference.

Starting and then exiting VARA alone does not create the background process. Using VARA in Winlink does not create the background process. Otherwise I'd say it's a…

I have never encounrterd anything like this... so Hard to tell. Could it be related to permission level in which VarAC/VARA operates. When you start VarAC "as administrator" does this still happen ?

@kellykeeton may be able to help. I am clueless when it comes to errors on WINE.

<LCR> reporting time 7 hours in advance.

I checked for any bug reports but didn't find anything.

VarAC Version: 13.2.7

Windows 11 25H2

I live in the Pacific Time Zone (-8 PST/-7 PDT). When performing a query with my buddy, the times received are 7 hours into the future (I wish I could look 7 hours in the future). I examined VarAC.db and the time stamps are correct in UTC format.

Example:

Ping issue

I have no idea if this is a bug, but today I did a pathfinder request on 40M (AmRRON) waited for about 5 min, then swapped over to 20m (AmRRON) and did a another pathfinder request waited for 5 min, then did a QSY back to 40m. I then saw a friend I knew and decided to ping him and I got no response. It did connect and then just sat there. I finally disconnected. I thought it was odd, so I pinged several other folks that were in EMCOMM mode as I always am. I could not get a response to any of them. Same symptoms… connected and just sat there. I shut down VarAC and brought it back up. All worked fine. Thought someone else could try duplicating that.

In VarAC, there is a background thread that is reponsible for communication. It seems like that thread has died for some reason on your end. Maybe an unhandled expception. Your log should indicate this. Please submit your VarAC.log section with this error (it may have happened even a few hours/days before you noticed it). Maybe there is an unhandled scenario I need to be aware of. thank you. Irad
