Hello All,
It took me a while to learn that I wanted to leave my install "as is" and just import the new .exe for each update, however ...
My last heard list last updated in March of this year. My contact log is working. How do I fix the last heard issue without doing a clean load, which I presume would deep six the existing contact log?
I really enjoy this mode. don't have to be in the shack to be "active." I have made new friends via vmail, following up with email and even ham shack hotline. I would like to see it merge with winlink. Crazy idea?

I will make an attempt to figure that out. Text files inspire far less terror in me than the mere mention of SQL. Yes, I've heard of it, but always discussed by guys who were 20db brighter than I am. I heard SQL in the hallways and the break room ... those conversations were never addressed to me. You can consider this case closed. I am sure there are users with more pressing questions.
I guess I will close with this: What is elegant to the developer is sometimes an enigma to the user. I'm kind of just getting up to the .txt file level ... Thanks : ))

Last heard as well as many other valuable data sources can now be found in the Sqlite DB of VarAC.

I am referring to the last heard list. Once upon a time, it was kept in a file called "Last heard"
That was useful in making up synoptic reports re last EU heard, time, strength, etc. It stopped updating on 3/28 of this year. Here are my last entries:
I am playing with a couple European stations, one 80W and the other 15W. We try to depict conditions daily. The data that was discontinued would have been useful in doing that.
Love the program. Just wanting to make sure I hadn't screwed up my install back on 3/28.

I am a member of a group that has been testing across the atlantic. In several cases I have erased the "calls heard" window before copying them (to post those of interest in the morning). If I understand you correctly, they are not "logged" anywhere? I don't find the VarAC.db file. With respect to the merging of winlink functionality and VarAC functionality, I got that from some of my EMCOMM friends. They felt that it would be nice to be able to route vmail to/from the internet. I realize those are two different worlds but such a convergence would also lessen congestion in the very narrow band of permitted frequencies for "automatic operation" in the US.
In Canada, you can operate an HF station automatically on any frequency you choose.

Since a few versions ago, the last heard lists are not managed anymore in a text file that you might refer to. they are stored in the SQLITE db of VarAC (under the file VarAC.db). When you load VarAC, you will see (if not disabled the load history feature) previous beacons and CQs.
As for Winlink merge, well these are 2 very different programs that do different things, only commonality is that they both use the VARA modem.
Last Heard?? Are you referring to the Beacon list or the CQ list? Can you send a screenshot to give us an example of the issue?
