A lot of hams like to chase paper awards. It would be interesting if VarAC had similar awards to those on QRZ.com EXCEPT created internally by VarAC. A simple award would be "number of contacts" at various levels (1-10, 11-100, etc.) that result in a badge displaying in the program. Another badge might be the "Rag Chewers Club" for a QSO of over 30 minutes in homage to the original RCC of years gone by.
To be clear, all of these badges would be generated by VarAC in a similar manner to how QRZ.com analyzes the logbook to determine if an award has been earned. VarAC could also create a printable certificate of "VarAC Accomplishments" with all of the awards earned by the station.
I must admit it crossed my mind numerous times. I also contacted the QRZ.COM guys long time ago so find out if we can have our own "Diploma plan" and they said no.
There are 2 types of doing this
with QSO confirmations - where people will upload their QSOs to a place that will cross check them.
Without QSO confirmations - 100% rely on people to report.
I guess I'll do it with the 2nd approach.
I'll put this in the queue.
VarAC will be able to print out the diploma. it will also include a "rank" based on your history of QSOs. so you can see how you move forward with your ranks.
73s!
